Saturday Night Live is all set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a grand special event, featuring a star-studded lineup of past and present comedy legends.

NBC’s long-running late-night sketch show will mark this milestone with a three-hour special on February 16 at 8 PM EST.

On Monday, the show released an official SNL 50 celebrity cast list, featuring former cast members who will return to the legendary 30 Rock stage—except for one surprising omission.

A teaser video showcases a car driving through the streets of New York, passing large blue billboards featuring the names of comedy legends making their grand return.

The cast lineup includes original members like Laraine Newman, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, and Garrett Morris, along with more recent alumni such as Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Eddie Murphy, Fred Armisen, Molly Shannon, Kristen Wiig, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Pete Davidson, Tracy Morgan, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Jason Sudeikis, and Chris Rock.

In addition to these former cast members, guest hosts from past episodes will also make an appearance, including Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Bad Bunny, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Kim Kardashian, Martin Short, Miley Cyrus, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Pedro Pascal, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, Robert De Niro, Sabrina Carpenter, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, and Woody Harrelson.

Fans Notice A Big Name Missing From the SNL 50 Celebrity Cast List

While fans on X/Twitter expressed excitement about the returning stars, many quickly noticed one big name missing from the list.

Where is Bill Hader? I need Stefan to come back!” one fan commented, referring to Hader’s iconic nightlife correspondent character.

Another fan demanded, “Give us Bill Hader!” while a third added, “If they don’t announce Bill Hader soon, I’m out.”

For now, it remains unclear why Bill Hader is absent from the SNL 50 celebrity cast list. However, he has previously mentioned that working on SNL caused him significant anxiety.

In a 2019 interview with Variety, the Barry star shared, “When I was on SNL, I was a little bit of a mess. My wife at the time had to deal with me being completely consumed by work and anxiety.”

He further added, “Sometimes, I think people assume it’s attention-seeking. But no, man—I was genuinely overwhelmed.”

SNL 50 Special Events Leading Up to the Anniversary

Ahead of the SNL 50 celebrity cast list event, Peacock will livestream a segment on February 14 titled SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, hosted by late-night star Jimmy Fallon. The musical lineup includes performances from Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Bad Bunny, Post Malone, and more.

Additionally, NBC has released a four-part documentary series, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night Live, covering auditions, writing, infamous sketches, and the critical 11th season.

Last month, NBC also aired a special documentary by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Oz Rodriguez, titled Ladies and Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music.

A Legacy That Shaped Comedy

Saturday Night Live first premiered on October 11, 1975, and has since aired nearly 1,000 episodes, making it one of the longest-running network television shows in the U.S.

As the show approaches its 50th anniversary, fans eagerly anticipate one of the most significant nights in SNL history, even if one missing star remains the talk of the town.
