Mumbai: Fans have been eagerly waiting for a Krrish 4 update, but it seems like the movie is still stuck in the planning phase. Recently, veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan opened up about the challenges of making India’s biggest superhero film, revealing that budget constraints are a major roadblock.
In a recent interview, Rakesh Roshan admitted that the film’s massive scale makes it difficult to finalize the budget. He said,
“We’ve been waiting for years, but I can’t finalize the budget. The movie is too big, and if I reduce the scale, it will look like an ordinary film. Kids today watch Hollywood superhero films, and even a small mistake gets criticized.”
Can Bollywood Compete with Hollywood's Big-Budget Superhero Films?
Comparing Krrish 4 with Hollywood superhero films, Rakesh Roshan said that competing with franchises like Marvel and DC is nearly impossible due to financial limitations.
“We have to be very careful. We can’t make films at that level because our budget doesn’t allow it. While Krrish 4 will have grand action sequences, instead of 10, we might only have 2 or 3,” he explained.
Is Krrish 4 Really on Hold?
In an earlier interview with India Today, Rakesh Roshan also expressed concerns about audience turnout in theaters post-pandemic. He mentioned that while Krrish 4 is supposed to be the biggest film in the franchise, it’s risky when theater footfalls are still uncertain.
“The world has changed. Today’s audience is used to watching Hollywood superhero movies with a budget of $500-600 million. In comparison, our budget is only ₹200-300 crore, which is very low. That’s why we are waiting.”
Will Hrithik Roshan Return as Krrish?
Although Rakesh Roshan hasn’t officially canceled Krrish 4, his statements suggest that the movie is on hold until financial issues are resolved. Despite being one of Bollywood’s biggest superhero franchises, competing with Hollywood standards without a massive budget is a tough challenge.
The Krrish franchise began in 2003 with Koi… Mil Gaya, starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. This was followed by Krrish (2006) with Priyanka Chopra and Krrish 3 (2013) with Kangana Ranaut.
For now, it looks like fans will have to wait longer before seeing Hrithik Roshan return as Krrish. But will this delay make the film even bigger and better? Only time will tell!
